Today we were made aware of an issue with the SMTP relay that we have deployed to make sure that you receive all mail notifications generated by your website. As a result, we have had to change how these notifications are being sent and parsed by the relay.
Previously all notifications were sent using your domains credentials, something like: “firstname.lastname@example.org“, however, due a policy update to Mandrill‘s terms and conditions, this has now become impossible without us asking you to update your domain DNS records – something that would probably take a disproportionate amount of time to get up and running.
Avoiding service interruptions
To ensure that there are minimal service interruptions we have done the following:
- Verified our domain’s SPF and DKIM records
- Swapped out all notifications being generated and sent with a “@thecrowd.co.za” address.
- Re-sent all notifications from the 19th of this month again
We do apologize if your inbox is now filled with duplicates, however, this was done just to ensure that you have not missed anything that may be deemed important.
